My name is Kex and I was born the son of a
mathematician in rural Idaho. I grew up with a strong interest
in science and technology, as well as a love for art. Because
I'm self taught and I also have an interest in math along with the
beauty it hides inside, I naturally transposed my artistic endeavors
to the computer in 1993.
With glass as the canvas and light as the pigment,
I use mathematical brush strokes to produce images which blend the
abstract and the surreal. The compositions almost build
themselves as I layer texture, color and form. I create
designs which have no obvious meaning yet inspire the viewer,
drawing the mind and soul to another place.
Various computer programs are combined to bring
about each finished picture. By balancing technology and art
with color and depth, I am able to create pieces with themes ranging
from simple geometry and repetitive patterns to realistic
impressions from my mind. Constantly redefining the artist
within me allows me to explore new techniques and ideas, which give
each series a life of its own, as well as inspiration for the
creations yet to come.
